McCabe [mixed version] (16mm film transferred to digital video 6:43).

[3-minute excerpt]

McCabe was created for the group video exhibition, 50,000 Beds , which is currently on exhibit at Artspace in New Haven (from July 20-Sept. 23, 2007).  The video was shot on 16mm film and on location in a hotel room in Stamford, Connecticut.  It restages the first interior scene from Robert Altman's 1971 film, McCabe and Mrs. Miller, recasting the 19th century prospectors of Altman's "anti-western" as the Greenwich, Connecticut-area hedge fund "cowboys."  By removing the scene from its original context and making strategic modifications, "McCabe" becomes a meditation on the iconic male fortune-seeker.
